Oneworld Airline Alliance Announces Headquarter Relocation to Fort Worth, TX
On Wednesday October 12th, Oneworld Airline Alliance announced the relocation of its headquarters from New York City to Fort Worth, Texas.
Oneworld will be joining its founding member, American Airlines, at their Robert L. Crandall Campus that is located by the Dallas Fort Worth International Airport. Located on 300-acres, the campus houses many different facilities and offices that are crucial to the success of American Airlines.
Because American Airlines is the largest airline in the world, Oneworld calling Fort Worth home will mean so much to the aviation industry and travelers alike. Working so closely to their biggest alliance member will “further accelerate the alliances drive to deliver greater value for its member airlines and customers”, American Airlines said. Additionally, DFW is home to seven other alliance members and is one of the fastest growing hubs in the Oneworld network, so Oneworld’s move will be able to “strengthen the Dallas-Fort Worth area as a center of aviation prominence”, according to the Fort Worth Business Press.
Mattie Parker, Fort Worth Mayor, believes that Oneworlds relocation from NYC to DFW to join American Airlines will be “a wonderful addition to Fort Worth”. Parker also noted that the service Oneworld will bring with them will demonstrate Fort Worth as an “attractive place for businesses to invest and grow”.
As seen in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Robert Sturns, director of economic development for the City of Fort Worth, also believes that the relocation of Oneworld to Fort Worth will be incredibly beneficial to the DFW area. Sturns said “it strengthens our city’s deep ties to the aviation industry, and builds on the opportunity, connectivity and outstanding success of American Airlines and other Oneworld carriers at DFW Airport”.
This move will also allow for the creation of new jobs and opportunities for the people of Tarrant County. Texas currently holds the title for the most air transportation jobs, so Oneworld being headquartered in Texas will “allow the alliance to tap into the significant aviation talent pool” that is already present.
