Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Researches technical data and performs disassembly, repair, cleaning, adjustment, assembly, testing and calibration of aircraft components and company special tools and ground equipment in accordance with applicable maintenance manual, FAA regulations and Ascent Aviation policies and procedures. Repairs, replaces and rebuilds aircraft structures such as wings and fuselage, and functional components including rigging, surface controls, plumbing and hydraulic units. Reads and interprets manufacturers’ and airlines’ maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components. Upon removing units from an aircraft, engine, or other major component or subassembly, completes appropriate identification, routing tags and forms and makes appropriate entries into the Component Removal Log. Inspects turbine blades to detect cracks or breaks. Disassembles and inspects parts for wear, or other defects. Repairs or replaces defective engine parts and reassembles and installs engine in aircraft. Adjusts, repairs, or replaces electrical wiring system and aircraft accessories. Performs miscellaneous duties to service aircraft including flushing crankcase, cleaning screens, greasing moving parts, and checking brakes. Upon completion of work scope obtains the signature of a certified mechanic on work cards or forms

Requirements

1-3 years of avionics experience in an MRO environment Will participate in and support safety initiatives, safe work practices and SMS compliance. Will participate in safety activities including the following: immediately reporting hazards, unsafe work practices and accidents/injuries. Will follow all safety rules, FAA regulations, PPE compliance and equipment operation requirements.

NON-PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES (NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS): (Identify functions affecting the airworthiness of the aircraft by using the prefix “CRITICAL”) Is aware proper aircraft maintenance practices. Maintain a clean and organized work area. Preform duties assigned while maintaining quality standards within assigned time limits. Works in a safe manner in accordance with company and OSHA safety procedures.

Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: High School diploma or GED. Basic computer skills. Airframe & Powerplant (A & P) certificate, or equivalent experience. (equivalency =minimum of 2 years experience as an aircraft mechanic) Minimum of 2 years of experience as an aircraft mechanic. (experience is not cumulative) Proficient with using hand tools and precision equipment. Capable of reading and interpreting approved aircraft diagrams, charts, schematics and maintenance procedures. Able to work on maintenance stands, lifts and ladders, work in confined spaces in unusual positions Able to lift minimum 50lbs and able to enter and exit the aircraft using steps and/or stairs. Must not be allergic to jet fuel, oils, hydraulic fluids or cleaning solvents. ADDITIONAL DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Aircraft experience, preferably on Falcon aircraft. Experience in a production atmosphere.

Understand how to read a micrometer, depth gauge or dial calipers. Identify interior fasteners and determine grip lengths required, and possess basic knowledge of installation methods. Clean corrosion and treat metal surfaces per the manufacturer’s instructions and specifications. Apply corrosion preventatives and know to which areas of the aircraft corrosion inhibiting liquids may not be applied. Accomplish simple sheet metal repairs or simple replacements of structural parts. Fabricate replacement covering, panels or fairings by using the removed parts as samples. Understand and practice correctly basic sealing procedures of aircraft Identify the locations of pressurized areas of the aircraft. Open and close areas on the aircraft which are required to be opened for inspection. May affect bonded repairs of honeycomb structures. Ensure work performed meets FAA and customer standards. Follow standards of behavior and appearance for all staff members. Ask questions as necessary to increase knowledge or skill. Maintain work area in an orderly and clean manner. Clean and remove any foreign objects generated during the course of effecting repairs.
