Aircraft Painter will be responsible for sanding and preparing surfaces for paint, mixing paint products and applying paint products within the allocated man-hour budgets and on schedule while maintaining quality standards and performing the tasks within the guidelines of all safety and regulatory regulations and requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Mask, sand, and prepare aircraft for paint application. Apply glazing and sealing compounds in preparation for final painting. Operate and maintain all types of preparation and priming equipment. • Check and determine the need and extent of repair and maintenance to be made to District aircraft so that aircraft stays in proper working order. • Perform pre and post flight inspections and maintain District owned aircraft under the periodic inspection program specified by the FAA for charter aircraft in order to provide a reasonable assurance that aircraft are functioning properly. • Fuel aircraft and load with chemicals as required so that aircraft have enough fuel and chemicals for each mission. • Perform equipment calibration prior to missions to ensure proper amounts of chemicals are released from aircraft. • Perform inspections and repairs in order to submit any FAA required documents to the Director of Aircraft Maintenance. • Maintain and rebuild aircraft engines and airframe as needed with an objective of all aircraft being mission ready. • Assist in the design and fabrication or modification of special equipment such as liquid and dry application equipment resulting in fully functioning equipment to assist in the abatement of mosquito populations. • Prepare requisitions and work orders under the direction of the Director of Aircraft Maintenance for parts and materials needed to maintain District aircraft in a state of readiness. • Perform routine maintenance and repair to facilities in order to keep the building in good working order. • Operate forklifts and other ground support equipment as needed to help complete tasks. • Assist ground operations when needed with maintenance, repair, and operation of vehicles and spray equipment as necessary in order to have functioning ground equipment. • Reinforce aircraft operation sites when aircraft operations exceed the capacity of the Aircraft Support Technicians in the field. • Follow Federal and State laws and District policies regarding health and safety to ensure compliance.

Requirements

Communicate Outside Process (OSP) shortages and critical material requirements with MRP Controller, Scheduling, Purchasing, Section Leads, and Product Managers. Track critical shortages and update / communicate critical shortage reports to provide priority to receiving and warehouse. Identify, communicate Quality Notification delays. Modify demand allocations for specific jobs as required. Work with Engineering as needs arise to identify the need to modify the standard bills of materials. Amend usage decisions/ errors in inspection lots and warehouse returns. Initiate new part set ups, as required, for items not previously procured. Fits core in panels where close tolerances are required for installation of details for completion of assembly. Performs vacuum bagging for Autoclave cures up to 100 psi. Lays out and marks dimensions and reference lines on material to develop and trace patterns of product or parts, or uses templates. Selects tooling and materials compatible with the processing techniques identified in the work instructions. Performs rework or repair on any metallic or nonmetallic part presented for rework or repair.

Requirements

4 years experience in Aircraft Repair Bonding in an aerospace environment Special Skills, Licenses or Job Requirements: Demonstrate competency in applying the following in performing normal job duties. • Reading and interpreting work instructions, properly documenting work performed on such documents as process planning, adhesive log sheets, Material Review Board documents, Engineering Work Orders, Change Notices, Engineering Process Specifications, technical manuals and like documentation. • Use close tolerance measuring tools i.e. scales, micrometers, calipers, depth gages and like tools. Special Training and Behavioral Competencies: • Safety training as required by OSHA. • Intermediate blueprint reading.
