Aircraft Parts Painter will be responsible for sanding and preparing surfaces for paint, mixing paint products and applying paint products within the allocated man-hour budgets and on schedule while maintaining quality standards and performing the tasks within the guidelines of all safety and regulatory regulations and requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Mask, sand, and prepare aircraft for paint application. Apply glazing and sealing compounds in preparation for final painting. Operate and maintain all types of preparation and priming equipment. Mix paints and primers. Perform leading edge sealant work in final detail. Comply with all safety, 5S, and housekeeping policies. Use personal protective equipment and ensure aircraft interior is protected (PTP).

Requirements

Minimum of 3 years of aircraft painting experience consistently applying a high quality topcoat application to specific aircraft specs. (including yacht and Naval. Excluding commercial or residential paint experience) High school diploma or equivalent. Must be able to work from designs or verbal instructions to perform layout design. Must be familiar with applicable manufacturer standards and company procedures governing the care and treatment of aluminum. Must be able to use standard paint spray equipment: buffers, paint guns, sanding equipment, and common hand tools. Must be able to walk, climb, and stand for extended periods of time. Must be able to repeatedly climb and descend scaffolds, ladders and other related equipment with or without reasonable accommodation. Must have the physical and muscular dexterity to stand or kneel for extended periods of time during painting, sanding or while working on aircraft. Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation. Must not be abnormally allergic to paint, paint stripper, solvents, primers or other paint related products that produce fumes or dust while using. Able to wear a respirator and pass a pulmonary function test.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Masking, stripping, prepping, painting and detailing. Apply primer and finish coats to aircraft parts or body of aircraft. Layout paint schemes and designs. Set up and operate typical shop equipment such as orbital sanders, dye grinders, paint guns and other general shop equipment and tools to complete work assignments based on customer specifications. Uses Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and follow all safety rules as required in compliance with OSHA standards. Experienced with Scissor and Boom lift operations. Additional tasks may be assigned based on customer specifications and demands.

Requirements

Must have 3-5 years’ paint experience on commercial aircraft. High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred. Must be able to read, write and communicate in English. Able to climb ladders and stairs, perform close tolerance work, work in small spaces lift up to 40 pounds and work any shift. Must be computer literate.

Performs any of the detailed work operations required to be completed in this area of specialization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Performs assembly of original equipment manufacturing of parts, components and subsystems for aircraft applications using products and processes are varied but generally not complex in scope to apply primer, topcoat paint, and any spray-applied coatings to aircraft parts consistent with government, customer and company standards. The level of work performed requires some skill and experience. Priorities are determined by management. Reads and interprets specifications and documents to define the scope of work on work orders. Cleans grease and dirt from product. Removes rust from metal with acid, wire brush, or steel wool. Applies masking tape over parts and areas that are not to be coated. Fills cavities and dents with putty to attain smooth surface. Computes mix ratios in order to mix paint materials. Selects and mixes coating liquid to produce desired color. Pours coating liquid into spray container and connects gun to air hose. Turns sprayer valves and nozzle to regulate width and pressure of spray. Selects the appropriate personal protective equipment for the operation to be performed. When using a respirator ensures the respirator is working properly and is properly worn. Applies spray onto work surface to apply prime or finish using protective or decorative material such as paint, enamel, glaze, gel-coat, or lacquer. Coats areas inaccessible to hand sprayer with brush. Heats and sprays wax onto products after they are tested. Cleans spraying equipment and brushes with solvent. Ensures compliance with environment regulations and maintains records in accordance with these environment regulations.

Requirements

Technical school and two (2) to four (4) or more years of aircraft or formal automotive painting, or equivalent combination of education and experience. High School/GED
