Aircraft Painter will be responsible for sanding and preparing surfaces for paint, mixing paint products and applying paint products within the allocated man-hour budgets and on schedule while maintaining quality standards and performing the tasks within the guidelines of all safety and regulatory regulations and requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Mask, sand, and prepare aircraft for paint application.
Apply glazing and sealing compounds in preparation for final painting.
Operate and maintain all types of preparation and priming equipment. Mix paints and primers.
Perform leading edge sealant work in final detail.
Comply with all safety, 5S, and housekeeping policies. Use personal protective equipment and ensure aircraft interior is protected (PTP).
Requirements
Must report for assignment with personal set of standard trade specific tools
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of 3 years of related painting experience (including yacht and Naval. Excluding commercial or residential paint experience)
Able to work from designs or verbal instructions to perform layout design.
Familiarity with applicable manufacturer standards and Company procedure governing the care and treatment of aluminum.
Able to use standard spray paint equipment: paint guns, sanding equipment, dual action orbital sander and common hand tools.
Able to stand for long periods of time.
Able to lift and carry 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation
Must not be abnormally allergic to paint, paint stripper, solvents, primers or other paint related products that produce fumes or dust while using.
Ability to use a respirator.
Miscellaneous
All contractors are required to wear company-approved safety apparel while working in the paint environment. This includes: FR (Flame Resistant) work shirts FR work pants FR overshirt/button-up shirt Approved anti-static safety shoes These items will be provided through Cintas and ordered once the contractor has successfully completed the onboarding process and is cleared to start work. To minimize upfront costs, APA will purchase the required uniform package on the contractor's behalf. The cost of the uniform package will then be repaid through payroll deductions spread evenly across the contractor's first four paychecks.

Your role involves ensuring all work complies with safety protocols, regulations, and customer expectations while delivering polished, professional results.

Comply with environmental health, safety policies and procedures; participate in 5-S activities and perform all work in a safe and timely manner.
Perform surface preparation on aircraft and component parts.
Apply primer, topcoat and final spray
Polish painted surfaces for finished appearance.
Inspect, perform touch-up and polish painted surfaces for a finished appearance.
Install sealant and erosion tape.
Performs and documents all work performed per appropriate manuals and regulations as required.
Layout aircraft to customer specifications
Requirements
Minimum of 4 year of aircraft painting experience
Satisfactory results on Pulmonary Function evaluation in order to obtain respirator certification.
Formal vocational training or equivalent.
Customer service and aviation work experience.
Basic PC skills.
Basic knowledge pulling maintenance manuals and IPCs from computer.
Basic knowledge of regulations dealing with transportation of hazardous materials.
Ability to communicate in both written and verbal form on individual and/or aircraft status.
Ability to interpret and work with mechanical engineering drawings.

This position is responsible for coating surfaces of aircraft and aircraft parts with paint, lacquer, epoxy, resin or other material in accordance with policies, procedures, requirements, and specifications established by the Company, applicable government agencies, and aircraft manufacturers as contained in approved Maintenance Manuals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Must have a thorough working knowledge of all forms and documents required to support the paint portion of a heavy maintenance service, including, but not limited to Company Policy and Procedures manuals, FAR’s, AD’s, Service Bulletins, and Maintenance Manuals.
Efficient in the use and application of tools, gauges, instruments, etc. necessary for the accomplishment of painter duties.
Have an understanding and working knowledge of hazardous material handling and disposal as related to the job assignment.
Works to verbal or written instructions.
Refinishes aircraft, aircraft parts, and other items as assigned.
Ensures paint spraying equipment is maintained in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.
Mixes material used in paint process.
Must be able to sit, stand, bend, crouch, kneel, and walk for extended periods.
Must be able to climb and work from ladders, work stands, and other heights.
Must be able to work with one or both hands extended overhead.
Must have correctable near and far vision.
Must be able to hear at conversational level with hearing aid.
Must be able to lift 25 pounds.
Requirements
2 year minimum of aircraft painting experience or specialized training in aircraft painting.
Must have minimum required tools.
Meet qualifications to obtain a SIDA badge.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Miscellaneous
MUST be able to pass a 10 year federal background check in order to obtain an airport security badge.
