The Sheet Metal Mechanic is responsible for high proficiency in all minor through major repairs, modifications, E.A.s, and with minimal supervision.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Remove and replace various aircraft components with the use of special tooling and ground support equipment following oral and written instructions such as supervisor’s directives and manuals to complete all routine and non-routine assignments in a timely manner. Proficient detail blueprint reading, ability to read, interpret and work from service bulletins, engineering work orders, major S.R.M. structural repairs. Ability to layout work using bend radius, set back and bend allowance charts, utilization of shop math, install and/or splice spars, landing gear, trunion changes, pressure bulkhead repairs and keal beam repairs/ removal and reinstall. Knowledge of ATA codes, knowledge of all applicable F.A.R.’s and company policies and procedures including job card/ time card, routine/ non-routine cards, S.R.M.’s, service bulletins, E.O.’s, and work sign-off/ sell-off procedures. Perform the duties of and provide the necessary training for lower skill levels. Maintain and store tools in a serviceable condition. Adhere to safe maintenance practices and keep a clean work area. Maintain and supply personal records of work performed on OJT forms for the Training Department. Successfully complete any courses deemed necessary by the Training Department. Perform any work that may be assigned by his or her supervisor.

The Sheetmetal Technician Senior works under minimal supervision to safely lay-out, fabricate and install parts equipment and fabricated items on aircraft following established operating procedures. All work performed should be in accordance with company design specifications, quality standards and completed work should meet customer expectations. Mentor and train other Sheetmetal Technicians.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions Use complicated schematics/blueprints, engineering drawings and technical instructions to safely perform sheetmetal layout, fabrication, and installation of parts, equipment or fabricated items on aircraft. Coordinate with supervision and Inspection to ensure compliance with internal and FAA paperwork, signoffs and quality specifications. Mentor and train Sheetmetal Technicians, as required. Review their work prior to sign off to ensure work complies with quality control standards. Oversee projects or other technicians and assesses requirements of assigned tasks to procure required. materials and documentation for assigned tasks. Use blueprints to cut and form plastics and follow standard operating procedures when using adhesives, sealants and solvents. Utilizing tools as required. to shape and form complex angles and configurations according to blueprint specifications or written/verbal information. Safely operate shop equipment such as: brakes, presses, riveting equipment, shears, and hand tools associated with sheetmetal functions. Use the proper hardware for various sheetmetal applications. Comply with all safety, 5S, and housekeeping policies. Uses personal protective equipment as required. Ensures aircraft is protected (PTP). Conduct monthly 5S audits, as required. Use the material tracking system to create parts demand, track squawks and to sign-off work. Assist in developing initiatives to meet individual OGSM requirements, as required. Additional Functions Work closely with lead to develop and implement process improvements that increase safety, reduce cost, cycle time, and man hours. Participate in continuous improvement activities (e.g. YIAW, Kaizen events, etc.) Coordinate with other disciplines concerning projects. Perform Lead responsibilities, as required.

Requirements

Education and Experience Requirements High School Diploma or GED required. 4 years of sheetmetal and/or fabrication experience. Experience in aerospace industry preferred. Valid Driver’s License required. Advanced knowledge of sheetmetal or fabrication processes (forming, drilling, stamping, shaping, bending, punching, cutting, riveting, filing and dimpling). Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering documentation. Valid drivers license required; to operate towing and other Gulfstream transportation equipment. Ability to read, write, speak, and understand proficiently the English language. Demonstrates excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Adapts to sudden schedule changes. Able to use tools and equipment associated with sheetmetal work. Able to climb ladders and stairs, work in small restricted areas, lift up to 40 pounds and work any shift. Must have a good working knowledge of computers and experience working with MicroSoft Office suite. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

Responsible for the proper execution of parts tags attached to repairable, serviceable or condemned parts. Interface effectively with members of management, other departments and co-workers Keep own and adjacent work area clean Able to work any or all shifts

Requirements

5+ years of sheet metal experience on commercial aircraft Able to read schematics/blueprints of moderate complexity, engineering drawings and technical instructions. Have working knowledge of SRM (Repair Station Manual) references. Must have own tools. High School Diploma/GED. Must be able to read, write and speak English. Must be able to lift fifty (50) lbs. Subject to continual loud noises. Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, and stand for prolonged periods of time, climb steps, ladders and/or service stands. Successfully complete a comprehensive background check, verification of credentials, and a urinary pre-employment test for drugs as per DOT regulations.
