Composite Bonding Technician I
As a bond technician you will perform repairs on parts /components by means of “Wet Layup” and “Prepreg”. Some repairs must be facilitated by the use of a clean room and cured by means of an autoclave. Types of Composite bonding methods utilized in repair may consist of: Co-curing, Co-bonding, secondary bonding, metal bonding, with adhesives in liquid form, and film.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Repairs are made in accordance with current technical data and procedures. Must be able to read basic blueprints Must be able to use close tolerance measuring tools (i.e., scales, micrometers, calipers, depth gages, etc.). Must be able to use hand tools (i.e., drill motors, die grinders, rivet guns, fastener installation tools, etc.). Must have ability to perform alignment/assembly using jig, templates and fixtures. PPE must be used when cutting, grinding, blending, and sanding Extensive use of bagging materials Must be able to properly bag for a wide range of component shapes and styles. Capable of using a “Hot-Bonder” type machine cure procedure.
Requirements
1-3 years of applicable composite/bonding experience - aircraft experience preferred High school diploma, GED equivalent Physical Requirements: Stand, kneel, bend for extended periods of time. Lift 50lbs
Miscellaneous
Must have own tools, must be able to complete/pass a plate test prior to starting
