This role combines advanced avionics troubleshooting expertise with team leadership responsibilities. The client is seeking a seasoned technician with extensive corporate aircraft avionics experience who can lead technicians, oversee complex modifications and inspections, mentor team members, and ensure work is completed safely, accurately, and on schedule. Corporate aviation maintenance experience is required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Lead and oversee the avionics team to ensure assigned work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with FAA regulations, manufacturer specifications, and company procedures
Serve as the primary technical resource and mentor for avionics technicians, providing guidance on troubleshooting, diagnostics, installations, and modifications
Coordinate avionics projects with maintenance leadership, inspection personnel, engineering, and maintenance control to support on-time aircraft delivery
Perform advanced troubleshooting, repair, testing, removal, installation, and modification of aircraft avionics, electrical, communication, navigation, and instrument systems
Diagnose complex electrical and avionics discrepancies and implement effective corrective actions
Complete avionics upgrades, modifications, and system integrations while ensuring proper functionality and regulatory compliance
Perform and oversee 91.411 and 91.413 inspections and certifications as applicable
Troubleshoot and support SATCOM systems and related communication equipment
Work with avionics systems including Honeywell, Rockwell Collins, Gogo, and other advanced corporate aircraft platforms
Read and interpret maintenance manuals, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation
Ensure accurate maintenance records, work orders, logbook entries, and removal/installation documentation in compliance with FAR Part 43 requirements
Support aircraft functional testing, return-to-service activities, and occasional in-flight troubleshooting when required
Mentor, train, and develop junior avionics technicians through hands-on coaching and technical guidance
Maintain avionics test equipment, tooling, and work areas in accordance with company safety and quality standards
Promote a culture of accountability, technical excellence, safety, and continuous improvement within the avionics team
Requirements
Minimum 5+ years of corporate aircraft avionics maintenance experience required
Minimum 3+ years of leadership experience supervising, leading, or mentoring avionics technicians required
Strong troubleshooting experience required; install-only backgrounds will not be considered
Experience leading avionics projects and coordinating work within a Part 145 maintenance environment required
Corporate aircraft modification experience strongly preferred
Experience performing 91.411 and 91.413 inspections preferred
SATCOM troubleshooting and support experience preferred
Experience working with Honeywell, Rockwell Collins, Gogo, or comparable avionics systems preferred
Preferred Aircraft Experience: Challenger 300, Global Express, Gulfstream GIV, Gulfstream G450, Cessna Citation X, Cessna Citation 560XL
Advanced hands-on experience with Gulfstream and Bombardier aircraft strongly preferred
FCC License preferred but not required
Ability to obtain FAA Repairman Certificate required
A&P License is a plus
Must have own tools necessary for the job
Strong knowledge of maintenance reference materials, wiring schematics, aircraft electrical systems, and technical manuals required
Experience using CMP and CAMP maintenance tracking systems preferred
Strong attention to detail, organization, leadership, time management, and problem-solving skills required
Ability to work independently while leading multiple projects and technicians with minimal supervision
Valid driver's license with no major infractions required
Must be able to pass pre-employment screenings and comply with airport/security requirements
