Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Lays out and marks dimensions and reference lines on material with or without templates or shop aides. Routes, saws, drills or otherwise change and add value to detail parts and subassemblies according to work instructions. Uses hand and power tools such as routers, drill motors, die grinders and other like tools to complete the required operations called out in the work instructions. Trims parts to fit and files, grinds, deburrs, bevels edges, polishes surfaces and other wise finishes out the material, part or assembly to specifications. Assembles detail parts into subassemblies and complete assemblies using written and verbal work instructions. Installs rivets, bolts, screws and clips and prepares and applies adhesives. Inspects assemblies and installation for conformance to specifications. Operates production machines and equipment such as hot or cold presses, band saws, and other like production machines to fabricate parts, components and material for production uses. Reviews production and process documentation and production scheduling and planning and assist in expediting the flow of material, parts and assemblies.

Requirements

Two (2) to four (4) or more years of experience in fabrication and assembly of metallic and non-metallic parts used on operational aircraft, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

May perform a variety of routine duties related to the area to which assigned.Performs tasks and operate machines and equipment that are required to process acrylic material used to make transparencies into parts and assemblies such as wing tip lenses, flight deck, passenger cabin and helicopter windows used on operational aircraft.Reads blueprint, work instructions and planning documents to understand the specifications that are needed to produce quality material. Determine how such items as oven temperature, heating time, dimensions, tolerances, material cutting, polish machine speeds, holding fixtures, and other operations affect the outcome of the production process.Prepares acrylic billet material for the pre-stretch heating cycle. Places prepared billets into the oven using various types of material handling equipment and set the temperature controls. Lifts and positions heated material into the holding fixture, sets the machine controls and completes the stretching process.Operates band saw to cut material to size indicated on the planning documents. Places material to be cut onto the saw table surface using various types of material handling equipment. Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent. Two (2) years experience in an aircraft or aeronautical environment. Must possess above average verbal, written skills and interpersonal communication skills. Must possess well-developed critical thinking, logic and analytical skills. Able to work from heights or small-enclosed areas for short periods with or without reasonable accommodation. Able to climb, stoop, bend, kneel, and/or work from unleveled surfaces with or without reasonable accommodation. Ability to read and interpret complex drawings, 3D models and specifications. Able to use precision measuring tools, gauges and laboratory type instruments. Must possess computer literacy with the ability to learn new applications. Must be pro-active and team oriented. Pass vision testing, minimum 20/20 corrected, and with no limitations in color perception. Preferred - Regulatory issued Airframe & Powerplant (A & P) license.
