Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Researches technical data and performs disassembly, repair, cleaning, adjustment, assembly, testing and calibration of aircraft components and company special tools and ground equipment in accordance with applicable maintenance manual, FAA regulations and Ascent Aviation policies and procedures. Repairs, replaces and rebuilds aircraft structures such as wings and fuselage, and functional components including rigging, surface controls, plumbing and hydraulic units. Reads and interprets manufacturers’ and airlines’ maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components. Upon removing units from an aircraft, engine, or other major component or subassembly, completes appropriate identification, routing tags and forms and makes appropriate entries into the Component Removal Log. Inspects turbine blades to detect cracks or breaks. Disassembles and inspects parts for wear, or other defects. Repairs or replaces defective engine parts and reassembles and installs engine in aircraft. Adjusts, repairs, or replaces electrical wiring system and aircraft accessories. Performs miscellaneous duties to service aircraft including flushing crankcase, cleaning screens, greasing moving parts, and checking brakes. Upon completion of work scope obtains the signature of a certified mechanic on work cards or forms

Fabricate high quality cabinetry, divans, ledges, etc. I.A.W. client approved procedures. Must be able to interpret material specs and engineering drawings to ensure installed cabinetry meets the design spec, quality standards and customer expectations. Learn to request material needs from approved data in a timely manner to ensure a continuous workflow. Must be able to adhere to all regulatory documentation regarding proper sign offs. As well as be able to ensure paperwork is complied with and completed timely in accordance with the client RSQM and other quality standards. An Aircraft Inspector is responsible for performing preliminary inspections and conducting routine/non-routine buy-back inspections of heavy commercial aircraft during maintenance and/or modifications in an MRO environment.

Review incoming aircraft flight logs for items of work required to be accomplished at the Repair Station. Procure required forms and work orders and transfer work to be accomplished to forms. Perform required aircraft inspections and do Buybacks on work performed. Check for conformance to specifications per repair instructions or other relevant manual or applicable engineering instructions approved by the FAA. Assist and or perform aircraft weighing and computations. Work away from home base. Assist in Documentation per the Code of Federal Regulations and customer processes (FAA Form 337, 8130-3, 8130-9) SDR reporting, AD verification and accomplishment. Review documentation after completion of maintenance visit and comply with verification sign off. Successfully complete any required training course. Able to perform inspection in confined space conditions and environment. Perform Aircraft Return to Service. Must be willing to work day shift, night shift, weekends and holidays as needed

Performs quality engineering reviews of design documentation for compliance with stated requirements, including vendor quality manuals and company quality records. Inspects all aviation products and paperwork for matching part numbers, serial numbers, etc. and proper certifications to meet FAA standards. Documents data obtained during all quality assurance activities, consistent with company policies and procedures. Develops new approaches to solve problems identified during quality assurance activities and communicates significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities and provides recommended process improvements to management. Collects data to evaluate engine performance, using tachometer and pressure gauges and examines assembly, installation, test and adjustment of flight and engine controls. Determines accuracy of installation of components in power plant and hydraulic system with protractor, micrometer, calipers, and gauge to ensure that specified tolerances are met. Signs inspection tag to approve unit, or records reasons for rejecting unit and logs inspections performed on aircraft and inspects and inputs data into the management information system, Technical Order, Computerized Maintenance Program Systems, Service Bulletins, Airworthiness Directives and OEM Technical data received. Maintains Technical Data Library to include the update of all OEM Manuals.

Requirements

5-10+ years of experience as a Maintenance Technician and possesses the ability to lead a small group of team members. A&P License required Current Valid Drivers license required IA (Inspection Authorization) preferred Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Performs bonded repairs of honeycomb structures as instructed. Identifies the locations of pressurized areas of aircraft. Opens and closes areas on the aircraft that are required to be open for inspection. Applies corrosion preventatives and maintains knowledge of areas of the aircraft in which corrosion inhibiting liquids may not be applied. Possesses working knowledge of ATA Codes (Chapter and Subchapters) as well as aircraft zones, narrow body airframe familiarization, and industry standards. Reads maintenance manuals to identify and locate aircraft components on the aircraft, and accurately implements instructions of maintenance manuals. Identifies the structural composition of aircraft (i.e., aluminum or composite) prior to performing any work on the structure. Performs repairs on noted discrepancies, and effectively researches manufacturer’s manuals for appropriate repair procedures prior to performing repairs. Prepares and maintains simple records such as work order documentation, logs, and time and material records, as instructed. Follows safety procedures and wears/uses appropriate safety equipment for the work being performed. Reads instructions and safety information as necessary for proper and safe completion of assigned work. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Minimum 3 years of sheet metal experience on Airbus and Boeing Aircraft High School Diploma or GED required. Airframe & Powerplant License, preferred Have own tools Must be able to read, write, and speak effectively in English regarding safety sensitive work activities, per FAA requirements.
