The primary duties of this position are to install, troubleshoot, inspect, test, adjust, repair, and/or modify avionics systems, sub-systems and equipment installed on aircraft, in accordance to applicable Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations. Responsible to assist in the supervision of labor, provide technical knowledge and evaluate material requirements, upon request.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Interprets and installs avionic system in accordance with installation drawings, schematics, handbooks, and other technical documents with minimal or no supervision.
Responsible for inspecting components of avionics equipment for defects and examines accuracy of assembly and installation.
Troubleshoots to determine malfunctions on aircraft avionics components and electrical system components.
Accountable for testing avionics equipment under simulated or actual operating conditions to determine performance and airworthiness of aircraft.
Provides analysis of tests results to identify adjustments, repairs, or replacement of defective components.
Assures that only tooling and equipment in current calibration is utilized for installation, repairs, or modifications of aircraft avionics/electronic system.
May accompany flight crew to perform in-flight adjustments/tests and to determine/record required post-flight repair work.
Inspects and tests aircraft communications components, navigation components, weather radar, auto pilot, compass systems, and accessories, certifying that all meet manufacturer’s specifications.
Responsible for completing all reports, forms, and checklists as required in accordance with company, government, and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations.
Complies with all safety requirements and uses all mandated safety equipment in accordance with company, government, and OSHA requirements.
Assists coworkers and those in other departments to successfully perform job duties and functions when necessary.
Requirements
High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Requires 3-5 years of experience as an Avionics Technician in an installation/modification facility.
For this position, a current Airframe and Power Plant (A&P) or Federal Communications Commission (FCC) license is preferred.
Must have current driver’s license.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, installation drawings or governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the garner public.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, aera, circumference, and volume.
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract an concrete variables.
Word processing, spreadsheets, internet software, e-mail, database software, inventory software, order processing software.
Miscellaneous
Facial Hair – Beards and mustaches, if worn, will be neatly trimmed to an approximate ¼” maximum. Short, evenly trimmed sideburns are allowed. Tattoos – Visible tattoos are allowed on arms and legs if they are not discriminatory based on racial, sexual, religious, ethnic, or other characteristics or attributes of a sensitive nature. These include the prohibition of any tattoos commonly associated with gangs, extremists and/or supremacist organizations or discrimination. Tattoos, brandings or body marks on the head, neck, face, tongue, lips, and/or scalp are prohibited. Hand tattoos are limited to one single-band ring tattoo, on one finger, on one hand. Shoes – When working in safety and/or industrial flight line environment, shoes must follow OSHA guidelines.
