Aircraft Inspector
We are seeking an experienced Aircraft Inspector to support heavy maintenance operations on large commercial aircraft in Kansas City, MO. This role is responsible for performing in-process, preliminary, hidden-damage, and final inspections during heavy check events. The ideal candidate has a strong background in transport-category aircraft, deep familiarity with FAA regulations, and the confidence to make sound airworthiness decisions in a fast-moving MRO environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Perform preliminary, in-process, and final inspections on commercial aircraft undergoing heavy maintenance Verify that all repairs, installations, and modifications meet FAA, manufacturer, and company requirements Review and sign off job cards, non-routines, engineering orders, and maintenance documentation Conduct hidden damage inspections during structural repairs and heavy check tear-downs Inspect completed work for conformity, compliance, and workmanship quality Utilize AMM, SRM, IPC, wiring diagrams, and engineering data to validate proper repair methods Document discrepancies accurately and coordinate corrective actions with leads and technicians Ensure proper documentation, log entries, and airworthiness releases are completed according to procedures Monitor overall work progress to ensure safety, compliance, and readiness for return-to-service Identify potential safety issues and ensure compliance with all OSHA and internal safety standards
Requirements
Valid FAA Airframe & Powerplant License (A&P) — Required Minimum 3 years of inspection experience within a heavy commercial aircraft maintenance environment. Strong preference for experience on wide-body platforms (B767, B777, A330, A340, B747, etc.) Proven ability to perform inspections in support of C-checks, D-checks, and major structural programs Strong knowledge of FAA Part 145 and Part 43 regulations Ability to read and interpret technical documents including AMMs, SRMs, IPCs, EO packages, DWGs, and task cards Must be able to provide all basic inspection tools (mirrors, flashlights, scales, etc.) Must be able to work variable shifts, weekends, and overtime as needed Must pass all standard pre-employment screenings

Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience in a large MRO environment Experience with digital maintenance systems (Trax, Ramco, Corridor, etc.) Familiarity with structural inspection techniques and corrosion identification Strong attention to detail with the ability to make confident, accurate airworthiness judgments
