Perform a basic to advanced level skilled work to accomplish sheet metal repairs and replacements of structural parts. Fabricate replacement covering, panels, or fairings by using the removed parts as samples. Reads and complies with instructions and safety information as necessary for proper and safe completion of assigned work.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Cleans corrosion and treats metal surfaces per the manufacturer’s instructions and specifications. Performs basic sheet metal repairs and replacement of structural parts using the following skills: Use measuring instruments such as rulers and grip gauges Utilize hand and powered tools such as hammers, chisels, hand snips, band and circle saws, drill presses, squaring shears and brakes to cut and form Ability to assemble parts by, bolting, screwing, and riveting Determine different types of fasteners used by symbol Remove and install minor components of aircraft structure or systems such as fairings, cargo liners, cargo floors and access panels Ability to repair minor or secondary structure per the manufactures SRM Fabricates replacement covering, panels, or fairings by using the removed parts as samples. Performs repairs of a cosmetic nature in passenger cabin interiors. Performs and demonstrates understanding of sealing procedures of aircraft structures. Performs bonded repairs of honeycomb structures as instructed. Identifies the locations of pressurized areas of aircraft. Opens and closes areas on the aircraft that are required to be open for inspection. Applies corrosion preventatives and maintains knowledge of areas of the aircraft in which corrosion inhibiting liquids may not be applied. Possesses working knowledge of ATA Codes (Chapter and Subchapters) as well as aircraft zones, narrow body airframe familiarization, and industry standards. Reads maintenance manuals to identify and locate aircraft components on the aircraft, and accurately implements instructions of maintenance manuals. Identifies the structural composition of aircraft (i.e., aluminum or composite) prior to performing any work on the structure. Performs repairs on noted discrepancies, and effectively researches manufacturer’s manuals for appropriate repair procedures prior to performing repairs. Prepares and maintains simple records such as work order documentation, logs, and time and material records, as instructed. Follows safety procedures and wears/uses appropriate safety equipment for the work being performed. Reads instructions and safety information as necessary for proper and safe completion of assigned work. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Minimum 3 years of sheet metal experience on Airbus and Boeing Aircraft High School Diploma or GED required. Airframe & Powerplant License, preferred Have own tools Must be able to read, write, and speak effectively in English regarding safety sensitive work activities, per FAA requirements. Individual will perform daily transactions within the ERP system (AMROS KIOSK), vending (POU), as well as research customer’s maintenance manuals. Work safely and follow safety rules and regulations. Take action to prevent others from engaging in unsafe practices.

This Sheetmetal Mechanic is responsible for fabricating, repairing, replacing, or rebuilding aircraft structures, repair parts, and special tools, in accordance with policies, procedures, requirements, and specifications established by the company, applicable government agencies, and aircraft manufactures as contained in approved Maintenance Manuals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Must have working knowledge and the ability to fabricate, repair, replace, or rebuild aircraft structures, repair parts, and special tools. Requirements

Must have thorough working knowledge of all forms and documents required to support heavy maintenance service, including, but not limited to Company policy and procedure manuals, FAR’s, AD’s, Service Bulletins, and Maintenance Manuals. Able to read and interpret technical manuals, instructions, blueprints, and drawings. Efficient in the use and application of tools, gauges, instruments, etc. necessary for the accomplishment of duties assigned. Must have an understanding and working knowledge of hazardous material handling and disposal as related to the job assignment. Valid and current Airframe and Powerplant license is a plus. This role focuses on heavy maintenance, line maintenance, return-to-service activities, aircraft storage, and engine removals and installations. Candidates do not need an A&P certificate but must have recent, hands-on commercial aircraft maintenance experience and be able to perform maintenance tasks in accordance with FAA regulations, customer requirements, and company procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Perform aircraft maintenance, repairs, and modifications on commercial aircraft in accordance with FAA regulations and approved maintenance data. Remove and install engines, aircraft systems, flight controls, and major components. Complete return-to-service (RTS) work, aircraft storage maintenance, preservation, and reactivation tasks. Perform troubleshooting, inspections, component replacements, adjustments, rigging, torquing, and safety wiring. Read and interpret aircraft maintenance manuals, illustrated parts catalogs (IPC), engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, service bulletins, ATA references, and other technical documentation. Complete assigned work efficiently while meeting quality and production expectations. Maintain a clean and organized work area while following all company safety procedures. Work effectively with supervisors, inspectors, planners, and fellow maintenance team members. Requirements

10+ years of related experience Recent hands-on experience performing maintenance on commercial aircraft. Experience with engine removals/installations, heavy maintenance, line maintenance, return-to-service work, aircraft storage, or similar MRO environments preferred. A&P certification is not required, but is considered a plus. Ability to read and interpret aircraft maintenance manuals, blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical instructions. Working knowledge of FAA maintenance practices and aircraft maintenance procedures. Must provide own basic hand tools. High School Diploma or GED required. Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.

Miscellaneous

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb ladders and maintenance stands, and work in confined spaces for extended periods. Ability to work in a noisy aircraft maintenance environment and around various weather conditions as required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Performs bonding of metallic or nonmetallic materials to fabricate parts for aircraft applications using products and processes are varied but generally not complex in scope. The level of work performed requires some skill and experience. Works under regular supervision applying standard procedures and solutions to meet work requirements. Priorities are determined by management. Reads and interprets blueprints, drawings, manuals, specifications sketches, job orders, planning documents and engineering drawings. Determines equipment requirements and the method and sequences of operation to be followed in fabrication of parts using materials such as graphite, fiberglass, plastic, boron, flock, mat, epoxy resins, rubber and like materials. Plans, lays out, fabricates and builds adhesive bonded assemblies of metallic and nonmetallic composite materials. Fabricate composite and metal parts into subassemblies for the purpose of pre-fitting in preparation for bonding/curing in presses, ovens, and autoclaves. Lays out, prefits, assemble and performs lay-up on a variety of metal to metal and composite bonded assemblies. Fits core in panels where close tolerances are required for installation of details for completion of assembly. Performs vacuum bagging for Autoclave cures up to 100 psi. Lays out and marks dimensions and reference lines on material to develop and trace patterns of product or parts, or uses templates. Selects tooling and materials compatible with the processing techniques identified in the work instructions.
