Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Understand, adhere, and demonstrate to the company’s commitment to QUALITY and SAFETY!

  • Maintaining regular and punctual attendance according to shift-times or a pre-arranged work schedule.

  • Perform other duties, as assigned.

  • Ensure all personally owned precision measurement instruments are calibrated and on file with Weaver Manufacturing Quality Department.

  • Able to run multi types of machines.

  • Responsible for set-up of first part on machine as assigned by Supervisor:

  • Set up and run the first part after completion of machine set up.

  • Verify program is stable and part is within tolerance for run.

  • Verify all set up documentation is correct and adequate for part run.

  • Responsible for “First Part Buy” from Quality Assurance.

  • Complete MIP sheet for first part.

  • Responsibility for paperwork on specific machines assigned by Shop Supervisor. This includes verification that all work orders are correct, directions are being followed and times / operations are documented.

  • Work with Programming and ME departments with Shop Supervisor’s guidance to assure correct work orders, programs and documents.

  • Proficient at reading and understanding machine programming and help trouble shoot basic production problems.

  • During times when you are not assigned a set-up or performing production or as assigned by Shop Supervisor; spot check parts and work on training issues with operators. Act as a mentor to other operators in the shop by providing direction on dee burr, blending, part checking procedures and efficiency. Provide feedback to the Shop Supervisor.

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.

  • Clean the machine at the end of each shift. Organized all parts and tools for the job for the next shift.

  • Other responsibilities as directed by the Shift Supervisor.

  • Must have the knowledge, skill, and ability to meet expectations for required competencies in position, which includes: 1) safety, health, and environmental awareness, 2) business ethics and compliance, 3) technical/professional competence and quality & time management, 4) interpersonal relations and communication skills, 5) initiative, flexibility, innovation, and adaptability, 6) continuous improvement and problem solving, and 7) planning and organizing.

  • Ability to read precision measuring instruments.

  • Ability to read shop production blueprints.

  • Mechanical aptitude and strong attention to detail.

  • Ability to follow directions during production and follow all safety protocols.

  • Basic understanding of machine set-up.

  • Blueprint training course.

  • Machine shop experience and/or OJT.

Reporting Relationships:

The CNC Machinist will report to the Production Supervisor.
