Position Summary:

Responsible for service to existing customer base, in addition to expanding ustomer base and sales for the Florida Market. Inspect and evaluate defects for repair. Remove, repair scratches, pits, and other damage to aircraft windows primarily at the site where the aircraft is grounded. Remove and install new windshields.

Education:

High School Diploma/General Education Degree (GED)



Experience:

  • 1 year of orbital sanding experience preferred
  • Auto body or wood sanding experience preferred
  • Previous aircraft experience preferred not required
  • A&P license preferred not required


Technical Skills:

  • Ability to use various measuring devices
  • Ability to read and interpret blue pints preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals
  • Bilingual a plus

Problem Solving/Decision Making:

Ability to determine upon initial inspection if an imperfection can be repaired and determine the correct procedures for completing the repair


Essential Job Functions/Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
The work is done while standing on the wings, in and out of the cockpit, in and outside of the plane. Traveling is required and hours worked range from 2 to 12 a day based on demand.

  • Ability to stand and/or sit 8 hours a day
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 70 lbs
  • Ability to twist, bend and stoop 8 hours a day
  • Ability to pinch and grip various tools with fingers and hands using pushing and pulling motion 8 hours a day
  • Ability to reach 8 hours a day
  • Ability to communicate clearly at all times
  • Ability to understand and follow work orders and process specs
  • Ability to hold buffing and polishing tools 8 hours a day
  • Ability to climb up and down ladders
  • Air conditioned, non-air conditioned and heated, non-heated plant or hanger
  • Possible exposure to various weather elements
  • Safety goggles required
  • Protective gloves required
  • Ability to work independently (self-starter)


Duties and Tasks:

  • evaluate windows for scratches, pits, and distortion
  • use orbital sander with different grits of sand paper to repair the damaged area
  • repeat sanding step as much as necessary to remove all larger scratches
  • when area is fixed, use polish and high speed polisher to remove all hair line scratches
  • when scratches are removed use a clean cloth to wipe window down
  • re-evaluate window for scratches, pits and distortion, if window appears
  • remove existing windows
  • prep and install new windows
  • Sign-off on all work orders and maintain traceability of parts to the appropriate work order
  • seeking guidance and direction as necessary for performance duties
  • keeping the supervisor /manager informed about the status of work being performed
  • informing the supervisor/manager about problems and potential problems as early as possible
  • reporting to work on time each day, after lunch, and not leaving early
  • maintaining the work area in a neat and orderly manner
  • maintaining a well groomed appearance appropriate for the position and situation
  • respecting the confidentiality of the Company, customer, and personnel information
  • performing other duties and tasks as may be assigned from time to time by the supervisor
  • assist and train other employees as needed
